So, a couple months ago I decided to go through my blog email and get rid of some junk.

If you're a blogger, then you know all the "pitches" that come through, most of which...um, suck.

{and sometimes makes me wonder what kind of blog they think i have!}

But the title of one in particular caught my eye...

Enjoy a one-night stay at San Diego’s Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa & Marina – with or without your kids. It’s our treat!

My immediate thought, of course, was...this can't be true.

It's much too good to be true...

But after a few back and forth emails, where I mostly checked and double checked that the catch didn't include having to promise my firstborn child to them....I realized it was legit, and who was I to pass up a complimentary hotel stay???

{they didn't even tell me to write about it...but in the words of charlie sheen..."duh!"...after all they did for me how could i not?!?}

Of course, at first I wanted to go alone.

But Jimmy found that rude.

So, I decided to invite him....and leave the kids.

But then because my life is all kinds of exciting, I decided to have gallbladder surgery the weekend of our romantic trip, and sadly had to use that one weekend we had to leave the kids with the grandparents... instead to hang out with the elderly patients.

Change of plans ~~forced us~~ got us looking on the bright side of things, and what better than to reschedule the trip and make it a FAMILY event?!?
A staycay if you will.
{that word makes me shudder...can't believe i'm using it!}
We built it all up as a family fun night full of bonding and love.

And besides the 5 year old who can apparently stay up till midnight and the 2 year old who I guess likes to burst into intermittent crying spells ALLLLLL through the night....

it was exactly that....
full of bonding and memories.
{and a realization that sharing a one bedroom with kids will never happen again.}

I have to say, we were treated amazingly....and we were SO impressed with all the amenities, views, and things to do in the area, that we talked about actually booking a (2 bed)room this summer for an entire weekend and pretending we were actually somewhere outside of our hometown.

I don't know what I did to deserve this, but I am so thankful we got to enjoy our time as a family....

even if it meant coming home and napping for 2 hours the next day.

The Nanny with a Lesson: A Movie Giveaway

I often jokingly refer to my tv or movies as the nanny, since it relieves me of 30 minutes to an hour of being needed. But in order to relieve just a tad bit of the guilt I feel by allowing such a horrid habit, I do my best to make sure there is a moral, a lesson, or something to benefit from, involved.

Most of the time.

So, as of late, my son has begun having "fears." He's been afraid of his room, the dark, water in his eyes, and so on. {Too bad, running across the street isn't on that list.}

But, I digress.

Anyway, I was offered a chance to view and review the video from Paphappahooey Island, called: Do It Afraid (voice of Joyce Meyer), and I was all over it.

And let me just say, both my son and I loved it.

Now, I can't be absolutely sure it's because of the movie, but a week after seeing it, my dear son put his face in the water, dunked his head, and swam across the pool. All. By. Himself.

Coincidence? Maybe, but I'd like to think not.

Now, they have all kinds of episodes that deal with all kinds of issues, but this one in particular was exactly what I needed when I needed it.

And did I mention, it babysat my child? And I was able to blog. And read. And breathe.

Hallelujah.

Back to school shopping

The thing I love about the fall is that I have two reasons to go shopping. One, we have to get new clothes for back to school and two, it's fall and we need warmer clothes. And of course when shopping for the kids, a mom must also shop for herself, because if she didn't, well....that would just be wrong. At least in my universe.

As I always say, family means nobody gets left behind....in fashion.

It's just that, while some may call me a whimp, I am not quite brave enough to take my preschooler AND my infant into a shopping mall. At least not if I am hoping to have a magical shopping experience, and in all honesty, that shopping high is just something I am not willing to sacrifice.

Now that Chloe is crawling all over the freaking place, I have become a big fan of leg warmers and long socks. Of course I love that they add style, but I love just as much that they protect her innocent little bare skinned knees.

If you've been reading my blog for any amount of time, you probably know by now that I'm not a big cooker. In fact, even boiling water seems like a daunting task.

I have even found a way to make eggs faster. The microwave. Oh, how I love the microwave.

So when Mom Fuse asked if I was interested in trying out the Fasta Pasta, I was like um, ya! Because if I can cook something in the microwave then I think it could very well be the product for me.

After using it, I now wonder if I will ever cook or even bake again. It is awesome.

This is a great product because we are generation on the run. We have lots to do, reality tv to watch, and children to grow.

A friend of mine recently turned me on to another company, Envirosax, that has the most amazing reusable bags that are not only green, but incredibly hip and stylish.

As if being green isn't hip and stylish enough.

Anyway, what I was really impressed with is the owners and how they are completely living the green life. They walk the walk and talk the talk, and it's inspiring. Here's a little blurp from their website:

Founded by Belinda and Mark David-Tooze in 2004, Envirosax® originates from Currumbin Valley in South East Queensland, Australia. The Envirosax team uses renewable and recyclable products where possible, and is committed to operating on ecologically sustainable principles.

Situated on 10 acres of pristine Australian rainforest, Belinda, Mark and their three young children live an ecologically sustainable lifestyle with solar hot water and photovoltaic cells for electricity. A sewage system recycles waste water, watering the extensive permaculture gardens and filtered rainwater tanks provide the organic vegetable gardens, fruit trees and the premises with water.

The property also features a forest of over fifteen hundred, fifteen-year-old Hoop Pine trees, each absorbing 44lbs of carbon dioxide per year. These and the 5,000+ other trees on the property, significantly reduce the company's carbon footprint.

They live totally off the grid and are living the sustainable lifestyle that we hope will spread to more and more homes in the future.

One other important thing worth mentioning, is that with every purchase you make, a portion of the proceeds are donated to a charity or non profit organization.

While I may like to poison myself with Diet Coke and Chocolate Cake, when it comes to my kids, I like to keep them as clean and as pure as I can.
