Speak baby, speak! *A giveaway!*

Call me crazy, but I'm a big fan of communication. I don't quite know why, but it just seems to make the world an easier place to live in. And when I say "world," I really mean my home. Because, I'm a stay at home. My home seems to be my world these days.

I'm also a big fan of baby sign language. I used it with Taylor when he was a baby, and unfortunately against all the rumors, he still ended up speaking at the same time all the other kids his age did. I was really hoping it might delay things a bit, and I could continue to enjoy the quietness of my home.

But, that's beside the point.

He picked up quickly and soon I could find out just what was going on in that little baby mind of his. It was awesome and I felt so connected to him even before he uttered his first words.

So now, I'm starting to get into the groove with Chloe. And this time, I'm not just searching the Internet for key sign language techniques. This time, I'm going where all the dummies go.  See below:

The Complete Idiot’s Guide® to Baby Sign Language, Second Edition, introduces parents to the 150 most common signs nonverbal babies are able to understand and can use to communicate with adults. Fifty new illustrations added to the second edition simplify learning for parents. New and expanded information includes:

•       A section on “Baby Sign Language Express” – shows parents how to teach their babies to sign language in just two weeks.
•       Demonstrations and techniques for teaching baby—and others—to sign
•       Ways to identify and create signing opportunities
•       How to combine two signs to make a sentence
•       Using signs to communicate wants/needs
•       Using signs to express feelings and emotions
•       Signs for helping baby understand
•       Signing to promote potty training
•       Fun signing activities
•       Verbal development

While Chloe is still in the early stages, I'm absolutely excited that this time I am so much more informed on how to communicate with her!

Now if only they had a book like this for husbands...

  1. Ooooh! This is exciting! We do sign with Kaylee, and she just started putting together the signs for "more" and "please" to say more please. It's so cute! I'll be back when I've got a bit more time to get all my entries in. I would love that book! So sorry Taylor still talked on time and didn't give you more quiet. ;)

  3. I follow!

I would love to win this for my friend. She is due with her first baby and I keep telling her baby sign language is the way to go. Maybe this book will make her do it? If not she will be totally confused when I "borrow" the kidlet and teach her myself. ;)
